Addressing household issues

I stopped by our pharmacy the other day to fill a prescription and took a few minutes to browse while I waited.  Over the last few years, the pharmacy has shifted to being largely a gift shop/prescription pharmacy with very little over-the-counter drug store stuff available.

I usually see lots of really cute stuff but almost never buy anything extra (just the refills, please!).  After all, we don't need many more knick knacks as appealing as all the cute holiday things are to me. 

But this time, I just couldn't resist buying these great magnets that speak so directly to the problems in my home.

My new philosophy for handling sibling arguments:

I had a really hard time choosing which ones to get.  Other favorites were:

"No" is a complete sentence.

I don't care who started it.

Do I look like a maid?

I brought them home and stuck them on the fridge without comment.  One by one, the kids spotted them and literally laughed out loud.  They thought they were hilarious!  Hopefully they'll remind us all to be slightly more tolerant of family life?  Maybe?  I can hope, right?

The gift

Wesley has a buddy at church, Mr. Gene.  I don't know exactly what it is that's made Mr. Gene take up with Wesley in particular but they have a special bond. 

Mr. Gene also works part-time at our grocery store.  He's one of those active retired fellows who just couldn't stand sitting at home all day so he went out and got a job "just for fun".  And since we seem to be either at the church or the grocery almost every day, we see a lot of Mr. Gene.

A week or two ago, Mr. Gene told us on Sunday morning that he had a gift for Wesley.  A little while later I stopped by Wesley's Sunday School room to check that he'd made it to class and he excitedly showed me the coolest airplane...a gift from Mr. Gene!

The plane has a propeller that winds up with a rubber band.  It won't actually fly but it will move along the floor a bit.

The little details are amazing!  And the plane is lovingly handmade. 

Wesley just adores it!

But I think more than anything he loves knowing that he is someone's someone special. 
 
 
 

The cutest smile

I adore this toothless grin.

I don't think either of the boys were missing both top teeth at the same time so I'm enjoying this sweet little smile as much as possible.  It melts my heart.
