Snow!
It's snowing here! And I don't mean a powdery flurry like we might get once every other year or so. I mean SNOW. Real snow. The kind that happens in places north of the Mason-Dixon line. Cold, wet, sticking to the ground, build-a-snowman, drink hot chocolate snow! Wheee!!!
This is certainly by far the most snow my children have ever seen in their lives. By far.
The weather folks said it might snow today but who trusts them? They seem to be wrong so often. And here in the South we're known for our "snow panics". You know, where they predict snow and everyone runs to the store and buys out all the bread and milk. :) We weren't too concerned since it was about 65 degrees last night around 6:30 p.m. Yeah, right, snow. Whatever.
But this morning it was starting to flurry when we got up around 7:15 and the temperature was 36 degrees. By the time we were ready to leave for church at 8:25, the temp was 34 degrees and it was getting slushy everywhere. Hmmm. Maybe there's something to this snow thing.
During church, it started to accumulate on the pine straw areas and by 9:30 when we finished church, it was starting to look like a world of white. When Sunday School started at 9:45, there was enough snow for the kids to start having snowball fights! And there was no containing them...they were all out on the playground instead of inside. :)
When we left church around 11:00 a.m., the roads were very slushy and the snow was inches thick on our car. We had to get gas in the car and a few groceries (really, we were out of things, NOT panicking!) and then home for a quick lunch.
And here's what the world around our South Georgia has become...
The view right after we got home...
By the time we got done eating and went out to play...
And the last picture I took before we came in...
Our house...
Snow deep enough to sink my feet into!
Backyard right after church...
And right before we came in...
Wesley...
Parker...
Amy Grace (who didn't want to be still long enough for a picture!)...
And Lucy, who wasn't really sure what to make of the snow but was a good sport. She's pretty sure she's a warm weather dog, though...
And it's still coming down. Big, giant, wet flakes. Unreal.
I'm starting to get a little concerned since we don't have any way to heat the house if the power goes out. And we've heard some tree branches breaking from the weight of the snow. But so far, so good.
The kids are headed back out again! Off to re-bundle!
p.s. I forgot the weirdest part of all: in the last 48 hours we have had pretty much all possible weather patterns...it was sunny and in the 70s, then we had torrential rains and tornadoes (really, all around us in nearby towns there is tornado damage from yesterday morning), and now we have freezing temperatures and several inches of snow!! My head is spinning!

I'm super jealous.
